2. Oil marketers on Saturday said they were yet to reach any agreement with the Federal Government on the N800 billion subsidy arrears, saying their ultimatum to suspend depots operations on Monday remained unchanged. According to them, the development may lead to a nationwide scarcity. Mr. Olufemi Adewole, Executive Secretary, Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), said in a statement in Lagos that offers by government failed to meet the legitimate demands of the association.
4. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) has cried out over the stoppage of transactions on all accounts belonging to its Vice presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, wife, his family members and their businesses by agencies of the Muhammadu Buhari administration. The party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Obi has been threatened by the Buhari administration since he decided to run for Vice President in 2019 election.
5. The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts France, Korea Republic and Norway, for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. The draw took place at the La Seine Musicale on Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris, where the opening game will take place.
7. The Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun is dead. Sources at her family compound in Idi- Arere area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and her Bodija residence, said she died in the early hours of Saturday. As Iyalode, she was the representative of women in the Olubadan-in-council which has 13 including 11 High Chiefs, the Olubadan who is the head and Iyalode who represents the female folk.
8. The Northern Elders Forum, NEF, have stated their position on its preferred presidential candidate ahead of the forthcoming 2019 election. The Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi, in a statement signed by himself and issued on Saturday in Kaduna, said the northern leaders have dumped their support for Buhari. According to Abdullahi, the Northern Elders arrived at the decision to dump Buhari for another northern presidential candidate because of his failure to fulfil the basic conditions they handed to him in 2015.
9. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned church members to stop buying any item that displays his picture.
Speaking at the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress 2018 at Mowe in Ogun, Adeboye said he had nothing to do with the items such as stickers, key holders and books, among others.
According to Adeboye, displaying his pictures on items was against God.
10. The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Saturday slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over his refusal to sign the Electoral Amendment Bill. Speaking with DAILY POST, the Spokesperson of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said the Buhari-led government was plotting to rig the 2019 election, hence, the refusal to give presidential assent to the bill.
