Reno Omokri, the former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has
accused the Presidency of being behind the raid of Daily Trust regional
office in Maiduguri, Borno state by armed soldiers on Sunday.
DAILY POST had reported that the soldiers shut the gate of its Maiduguri regional office, after arresting the two editorial staff on sight at the time of the raid.
The arrest is said to be connected with the lead story of the newspaper on military operation in the North East.
Reacting to the incident, Omokri in a post on his Twitter page, said president Muhammadu Buhari and his cabal planned the siege.
According to him, the siege was a plan by the present administration
to mitigate damages from controversies surrounding viral tapes quoting
Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi criticizing Buhari.
Omokri wrote: “The arrest of Daily Trust’s editor is a planned media strategy by Buhari’s cabal.
“They brainstormed overnight on how to mitigate damage from Amaechi
Tapes. The whole thing is choreographed. Daily Trust is their baby. They
even kicked out Farooq Kperogi for criticising Buhari.”
Recall that Amaechi over the weekend was accused of working for Buhari because of personal gains and urged to step down as Director-General of his campaign after tapes emerged of him criticizing the president.
