2. Many Nigerians, including political actors, have thanked God for sparing the life of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. While some expressed shock over the incident, others urged Nigerians to pray to God for the protection of the nation’s leaders and politicians during this campaign period.
4. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with chieftains of political parties and security agencies ahead of the general elections in Ogun State. The meeting, which was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, focused on the need to maintain peace before, during and after the forthcoming elections in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that the 2019 general elections will be contested by 91 registered political parties and a total voting population of 84, 004, 084. INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voters Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said this on Saturday in Lagos.
7. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged that presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, Atiku Abubakar is an “indigene” of Cameroon. Kanu said this on Saturday during his live broadcast from London, UK. The IPOB leader further blamed Atiku for the failure of Alex Ekwueme, a former Vice President.
8. The Federal Government has said that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would be called off before Monday. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu assured that students will soon return to school because almost all the issues under contention have been resolved.
9. The Nigeria Prisons Service, NPS, has warned Nigerians against falling victims to job scanners. NPS disclosed that the scammers are seeking to exploit it’s current recruitment exercise by soliciting payment from unsuspecting job seekers in order to facilitate their employment into the service. A statement issued by NPS spokesperson, Francis Enobore warned members of the public not to deal with anyone with such proposition.
